RESOLVED :

 

THAT the Minutes of the meeting held on 1 July 2003 be confirmed.

Consideration was given to the following items 1 - 3 in the report of the Strategic Director of Environment Services.

Members commented that if there is an appeal in respect of the enforcement notice then negotiation might take place in regard to fence type and set back position from the road.

Additional Representations:

Comment:

Having visited the property, Members were of the view that this relatively small terraced house did not lend itself to conversion to a 2 self contained units due to size, scale, nature and method of construction likely to have a detrimental effect on the amenities of the occupants of neighbouring properties.

Decision:

Contrary to Officer recommendation, refusal of planning permission, for the reasons set out in Part II Register

Reasons:

The proposed conversion of this small, older style, two storey dwelling house into two self-contained flats is likely to have a detrimental effect and cause a loss of amenity for the occupants of the two neighbouring properties due to increased noise and disturbance arising from the overall size of the existing building and the method of construction, contrary to Policy D1(h) of the Isle of Wight Unitary Development Plan.
