DEPUTY LEADER OF THE COUNCIL

SUMMARY/PURPOSE

To review progress of the Year 1 – 2000/01 Best Value Review Improvement Plans previously approved by Executive.

BACKGROUND

Directors Group reviewed the progress of the 2000/01 Best Value Review Improvement Plans at their meeting on July 3rd.  This paper prepared for the Executive, summarises what has happened to date and lists those areas where action has either been deferred, there is lack of resource, or items have not yet been actioned, with explanations.

REPORT TO DIRECTORS GROUP

The attached summary table (Appendix A) shows that out of a total of 215-improvement plan items, 193  (90%) have been completed/happening/contained within service plans.

The four items shown under “No Resources” column relate to ICT projects, which will be addressed by the development of a ten-year investment plan currently being prepared.

Three of the items shown under “Not Yet Actioned” column and ICT relate to Information Management.   This is a cross cutting issue, for all Directorates, which is awaiting consideration by Directors’ Group.

Appendix B (attached) shows the detailed improvement points classified as: -

                        Deferred for Future Review

                        No Resource

                        Not Yet Actioned

RECOMMENDATIONS
