Workforce Information

General workforce statistics include:

2012:
There were 1,868 FTE employees employed by the Isle of Wight Council (excluding schools) at the end of December 2012.  Throughout 2012, there were 58 redundancies (including both voluntary and compulsory redundancies but excluding schools).

2010 / 2011:
There were 1,980.29 FTE employees employed by the Isle of Wight Council (excluding schools and reliefs) at the end of the financial year 2010 / 2011.  From 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011, there were 80 redundancies (including both voluntary and compulsory redundancies but excluding schools).

2009 / 2010:
There were 2,039.02 FTE employees employed by the Isle of Wight Council (excluding schools and reliefs) at the end of the financial year 2009 / 2010.  From 1 October 2009 to 31 July 2010 there were 75 redundancies.

Annual leave:
From the 1 April 2012 all employees (including Directors and Heads of Service) are entitled to 28 days’ annual leave.  In addition to this allowance, all employees have an entitlement to three further days’ annual leave, comprising two ‘extra-statutory’ days and one additional day (pro rata for part-time employees).  These additional three days’ leave are taken between Christmas and New Year, enabling most of the Isle of Wight Council to be closed between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day inclusive.
