Residential Care

Quality Assurance

From 1 April 2009 all health and social care services in England are registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), whether provided by the NHS, local authorities, private companies or voluntary organisations.

Reports on the CQC’s findings on individual homes can be found on their website:  www.cqc.org.uk

The Isle of Wight Council Community Wellbeing and Social Care Directorate has introduced a Quality Assurance and Improvement Framework (QAIF) to implement a robust method of assessment, with the aim to improve the quality of the services provided within residential and nursing homes.

The QAIF recognises that the customer is at the centre of all we do and that feedback of their experience of our commissioned services is vitally important for us to improve what and how we do it.

The QAIF is implemented by members of the Commissioning and Quality Assurance Team.  Other teams within the Community Wellbeing and Social Care Directorate feed into this process including Safeguarding Adults and the Review & Quality Assurance teams.
