School Admissions


Service Description: The School Admissions Service co-ordinates school admissions for the Isle of Wight. The Isle of Wight has 49 community, foundation, church aided and academy schools. There are: 41 primary schools (for pupils aged 4 to 11); 6 secondary schools (for pupils aged 11 to 19); 2 mixed-sex special schools (for pupils aged 4 to 11 and 11 upwards).

Your FAQ

Question: I am moving off the Island in the near future. How do I apply for a school place for my child/ren during the school year in another Authority?

Answer: Under the new Inter Authority Admissions process - You need to apply via school admissions on the Isle of Wight.

We will send you the appropriate application form/s which you must complete. Along with the completed form you need to include an additional note stating your new address on the mainland and the date you are moving to the address stated, send this to:
School Admissions,
County Hall,
Newport,
Isle of Wight,
PO30 1UD.

Or you can apply on line by using the link below - once on this page click on the 'Forms' tab and complete the form called 'In Year School Placement Application Form.' On-line application forms must be completed by the parent / guardian of the child for whom they are applying.

We will then make contact with the local authority you are moving to and act as correspondent on your behalf.
