OBJECTIONS TO ADVERTISED TRAFFIC ORDERS REPORT OF THE STRATEGIC DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE AND ENVIRONMENT SERVICES |
1. The Isle of Wight Council (Esplanade, Ryde, IW) (Motor Coach Parking Places) Order No 1 2002.
An Order to introduce a Coach Setting Down Bay at the Esplanade, Ryde was advertised during April 2002 and the following representations were received.
The proposed Coach Setting Down Bay was advertised in an attempt to formalise the arrangements that have been in place on the Esplanade for some time. Although these have been of an advisory nature only, they have provided a useful setting down point for visiting coaches to the town and have contributed to activities at the main interchange.
The proposed time restriction will ensure that the area is not used for long-term parking and that unauthorised vehicles do not cause an obstruction.
The existing capacity to park on the southern side of the carriageway provides sufficient capacity for patients to park when visiting the doctor’s surgery, without the need to cross the road.
The potential impact of the
proposed restrictions have been analysed in detail and are not felt to have any
negative impact on the provisions of section 17 of the Crime & Disorder Act
1998.
RECOMMENDATION
That the proposed restriction is implemented as advertised.
Hampshire Constabulary has not provided any written comment on the matter.
Letters of objection addressed to the Strategic Director of Corporate and Environment Services, copies of which are attached.
