PROMOTING A SAFER SOCIETY BEST VALUE REVIEW

 

REPORT OF THE HEAD OF CORPORATE POLICY AND COMMUNICATIONS

 

REASON FOR SELECT COMMITTEE CONSIDERATION

 

This report provides Members with an update on progress against the recommendations of the Council’s Cross-Cutting Best Value Review ‘Promoting a Safer Society’.

 

ACTION REQUIRED BY THE SELECT COMMITTEE

 

To make comments or recommendations in relation to progress made implementing the Promoting a Safer Society Action Plan.

 

BACKGROUND

 

The report resulting from the review was presented to this Committee on 21March 2001, when the report was approved and the action plans contained in the report were agreed. It was also recommended that the Accident Prevention, Crime Prevention, Disaster Prevention and Substance Mis-use elements of the review should all be overseen by the Fire and Public Safety Select Committee whilst the Community Care Issues should be dealt with by the Social Services, Housing and Benefits Select Committee.

 

The Action Plan details progress on all outstanding recommendations.

 

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS

 

There are no financial implications in writing this report.

 

CRIME AND DISORDER IMPLICATIONS

 

Actions carried out as within the Action Plan make a positive contribution in reducing crime and disorder on the Island.
