THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PARKING PLACES ORDER NO 1 2006

 

Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight Council in exercise of their powers under Section 1 (1), (2) & (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police, proposes to make an Order the effect of which will be:

 

1.             To revoke the provisions of “The Isle of Wight Council (Parking Places) Order No 2 2004.

 

2.             To re-enact the provisions contained therein subject to amendments that enable the following:

 

a.           The introduction of Island Residents’ Parking permits at a cost of £50 per annum, discounted to £35 for those of pensionable age with the following entitlements for off street parking:

 

Residents’ General Permits

 

                                                   i.      3 hours free parking in Short Stay off street parking places.

                                                 ii.      5 hours free parking in Shoppers off street parking places.

                                                iii.      8 hours free parking in Long Stay off street parking places.

 

Residents’ Supplementary Permits

 

Unlimited stay in one nominated Long Stay off street parking place. (For an additional payment of £50 [£35] per annum.)

 

b.           The introduction of a five hour time limit for non-permit holders in the following parking places:

 

                                                   i.      Appley Park, Ryde

                                                 ii.      High Street, Carisbrooke

                                                iii.      Brannon Way, Wootton Bridge

                                               iv.      Puckpool Park, Seaview

                                                 v.      Pier Road, Seaview

                                               vi.      The Heights, Sandown

                                              vii.      The Arboretum / Medina Leisure Centre, Newport

 

c.           Parking charges to be levied seven days per week, 52 weeks per year in all chargeable parking places with the exception of:

 

                                                   i.      Cowes Esplanade

                                                 ii.      Esplanade and Canoe Lake, Ryde

                                                iii.      Esplanade and Culver Parade, Sandown

                                               iv.      Shanklin Esplanade

                                                 v.      Ventnor Esplanade

 

Where charges will only be levied from 1 April to 31 October

 

d.           The introduction of revised parking and permit charges as set out below:

 

Short Stay / Shoppers Car Parks

 

Up to ½ hour   50p     

½ to 1 hour      90p     

1-2 hours         £1.80  

2-3 hours         £2.70  

3-4 hours         £3.60  

4-5 hours         £4.50  

 

Long Stay and Esplanades On-Street (Seasonal)

 

Up to ½ hour   50p

1-2 hours         £1.70  

2-4 hours         £3.00  

4-6 hours         £4.00  

6-24 hours       £6.00  

 

Town Centre On-Street

 

Up to ½ hour   80p     

½ to 1 hour      £1.20  

1-2 hours         £2.00  

 

Buses, Coaches and Commercial Goods Vehicles (where permitted)

 

£20 per day

 

Other Permit Charges

 

            Tourist Permits:

 

            14 day -           £45     

              7 day -           £30     

              4 day -           £20     

              3 day -           £15     

              2 day -           £10     

 

            Off-Street Residents’ Permits – (100metre radius)               £50     

            On-Street Residents’ Permits - Newport                               £45     

            On-Street Residents’ Permits – Esplanades                         £45     

            On-Street Residents’ Permits – The Parade, Cowes                        £45

 

            6 month permit for the Botanic Garden, Ventnor only -          £9.00

            3 month permit for the Botanic Garden, Ventnor only -          £4.50

 

            7 day permit for Coaches / HGV’s                                          £100

 

e.           The introduction of a three hour time limit for free parking under the exemptions granted to disabled person badge-holders (the Blue Badge Scheme) in Short Stay, five hours in Shoppers car parks and eight hours in Long Stay Off-Street parking places.

 

f.             Charges to apply between 8.00am and 6.00pm in other than special tariff areas

 

A copy of the draft Order and this Notice may be inspected during normal office hours at the Customer Services Centre, County Hall, Newport, isle of Wight during the objection period.  If you wish to object to the proposals contained in this notice you should send the grounds for your objection in writing to Peter Taylor, Traffic Manager, Enterprise House, St Cross Business Park, Monk’s Brook, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 5WB, no later than noon on Monday 27th February 2006.
