REASON FOR ENQUIRY

 

Ø      To improve the health and well-being of Island residents

Ø      To improve the health and productivity of the Isle of Wight Council (IWC) employees through the promotion of a healthier workplace.

PROPOSED OUTCOME OF POLICY IMPLEMENTATION

 

Ø      Reducing health inequalities on the Island

Ø      Improving the health of younger people

Ø      Decreased sickness and improved well-being of IWC employees, resulting in increased productivity

TERMS OF REFERENCE

 

To receive evidence from stakeholders on:

 

Ø      Current measures to promote smoking cessation

Ø      Demographic information on those most likely to smoke 

Ø      Existing policies around smoking within the IWC and Island schools

 

In order to:

 

Ø      Determine the groups to target with smoking cessation information

Ø      Identify measures to encourage people to quit smoking and to reduce exposure to second-hand smoke.

Ø      The best way to enforce no-smoking policies in schools
