REASON FOR ENQUIRY Ø
The Local Area
Agreement sets out the aim to , “Provide healthy, safe, affordable housing
accommodation according the needs of Island people, including those in rural
areas and those with least housing choice” (Healthier Communities, Aim C,
Goal C2) Ø
A need to better
communicate and promote the concept of affordable housing. Ø
To act as the core
working party for the Housing Market Assessment to underpin the strategic
policy framework of the Housing and Employment Development Plan Document |

PROPOSED OUTCOME OF POLICY IMPLEMENTATION To ensure that the Island plan Housing
and Employment Development Plan Document provides a sufficient quantity of
affordable housing to meet local needs. |

TERMS OF REFERENCE To receive evidence from
stakeholders on: ·
The current provision of affordable housing on the Isle of Wight ·
What the blockages are to providing affordable housing and potential
solutions to these. ·
To clarify the definition of
“affordable housing” ·
