RESOLVED :
THAT the Minutes of the meeting held on 24 July 2001 be confirmed subject to an amendment to Minute 10 (b) (i) TCP/02508/F - Outline for tennis & racquets club with ancillary sports & fitness Fairway Park Football Ground, The Fairway, Sandown to read:-
RESOLVED :
THAT the Development Control Committee would have refused planning permission for the following two reasons :
Having due regard and appropriate weight to all material considerations as described in the evaluation section of the report, the use of this site for built sports facilities would result in the loss of potential playing fields and loss of desirable open space, contrary to policies in respect of leisure contained within the Unitary Development Plan and secondly on grounds of inadequate access.

A question was put to the Chairman as follows :
Mr B Mosdell in relation to an application at land east of Sandown Airport, Newport. (MQ 15/01)

Refused contrary to officers recommendation as Members felt that the proposed design and materials of the buildings would not compliment the existing development in the area which is of traditional design in a sensitive area. Development would therefore be contrary to policies D1, D2 and H4 of the Isle of Wight UDP.
