RESOLVED :

 

THAT the Minutes of the meeting held on 6 August 2002 be confirmed.

 

44.      DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST


Interests were declared in the following matters :


Mr B E Abraham declared a personal interest in Minute 45 (a) - Bluebell Haven, Willmingham Lane, Freshwater.


Mr V J Morey declared a personal interest in Minute 46 (3 and 4) - Pipewise, Chale Green.

 

45.      URGENT BUSINESS


The Chairman agreed to two items of urgent business as a decision was required before the next meeting.

 

           (a)       TCP/8284L - BLUEBELL HAVEN (FORMERLY FOREST HAVEN), WILLMINGHAM LANE, FRESHWATER, ISLE OF WIGHT

 

(Mr B E Abraham declared a personal interest in this item).

 

The Committee believed that as the Council’s Senior Solicitor was not present at the meeting it would be appropriate for the item to be deferred to the next full meeting of the Development Control Committee, due to be held on 27 August 2002.

 

RESOLVED :

 

THAT the item be deferred to the next full meeting of the Development Control Committee due to be held on 27 August 2002.

 

           (b)        TCP/05394/E - BARLEY MOW, 57 SHIDE ROAD, NEWPORT, ISLE OF WIGHT

 

The Committee were reminded that the above application had been considered at the meeting of the Development Control Committee held on 6 August 2002. At that meeting it was decided to approve the application, contrary to officer’s recommendation, as it was believed that if any nuisance or disturbance resulted, the Council would have powers to seek redress through Environmental Health Legislation.

 

The Development Control Manager had received an e-mail from the Council’s Environmental Health Manager, which was read out to the Committee. As the decision Notice had not yet been issued Members were asked if they thought they should reconsider the application.

 

RESOLVED :

 

THAT the application be reconsidered at the meeting of the Development Control Committee due to be held on 27 August 2002 and that the Environmental Health Manager be invited to attend.

 

46.      REPORT OF THE STRATEGIC DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE AND ENVIRONMENT SERVICES

Consideration was given to items 1 - 4 of the report of the Strategic Director of Corporate and Environment Services.

The reasons for the resolutions made in accordance with Officer recommendation are given in the Planning report. Where resolutions are made contrary to Officer recommendation the reasons for doing so are contained in the minutes.

Members were concerned over the scale, mass height and position of the proposed building and suggested that discussions should take place on these issues as well as design and materials to be used.
