COMPLAINTS SUBMITTED TO THE STANDARDS BOARD FOR ENGLAND
REPORT OF THE MONITORING
OFFICER
To note that since the last
meeting of the Committee the Standards Board have informed me of the following:
1.
The
Adjudication Panel’s decision on a complaint submitted against Mr Louis
Lawrence. The allegation was that Mr Louis Lawrence had failed to comply with
Ventnor Town Council’s Code of Conduct by bringing his office or authority into
disrepute by publishing untrue statements about certain councillors and the
Town Clerk on his website, in newsletters and in a letter to a newspaper. The
Panel concluded that Mr Lawrence had breached the Code of conduct and
disqualified him from office for eighteen months as from 24 July 2003.
No other action was recommended for consideration by the Standards Committee.
2.
The
Ethical Standards Officer investigating a complaint against a member of the
Cowes Town Council has concluded that no further action needs to be taken in
respect of the matters the subject of this investigation.
3.
Two
further cases mentioned in last report to the Committee remain outstanding with
the Standards Board.
