They collect and analyse information from a number of services.  The judgments they form are fed back to Government Ministers, and, after presentation to committee, are made accessible to the public.

The Social Services Inspectorate has concluded that the service was serving most people well and prospects for the future of Older People Services for the future are excellent.  They also identified three good practice areas, these were the service provided by Sound Advice, the centralized Duty Team for Older People which was a result of a recent reorganization for Adult Services and the Welfare Rights Service which is provided centrally for the whole Island.  The report details a number of areas for improvement which will be taken from the document and turned into an action plan.
