AUTUMN POSITION
STATEMENT – NOVEMBER 2002

SUMMARY/PURPOSE
This report appraises Members of progress to date with regard to the
Social Services Inspectorate’s Performance Assessment Programme and the
Directorate’s recent submission to the Department of Health of the Autumn
Position Statement.
2.
BACKGROUND
The Social Services Inspectorate (SSI) is required to undertake an
Annual Review of Performance. In
assessing performance evidence from a number of standard sources is used. These include:
The published Performance Assessment Framework Performance Indicators
The monitoring of Social Care Region Position Statements – submitted
Spring 2002 and Autumn 2002.

OUTCOME OF REVIEW
The Autumn Position Statement and Performance Assessment data was
submitted on time, the information being dispatched within timescale. This was commended by the Social Services
Inspectorate. A few minor queries with
regard to our submission have been received and have been satisfactorily
answered. Our performance against the
data submitted is being carefully monitored, details contained in the
Management Performance Report included within this agenda. The Department of Health will shortly advise
the Directorate, through the annual Director’s letter as to their opinion of
our performance.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
As yet unknown.

LEGAL IMPLICATIONS
None, if compliance with requirement to
improve standards remains constant.
6. RECOMMENDATIONS
Members note the report. A further report will be presented detailing the outcome of our submission.
