HOMELESSNESS MONITORING AND NOMINATION STATISTICS

REPORT OF THE HEAD OF HOUSING SERVICES

REASON FOR SELECT COMMITTEE CONSIDERATION

This report gives members the opportunity to receive Homeless Monitoring and Nomination Statistics for April (month 1), for scrutiny purposes.

BACKGROUND

Attached at Appendix 1, are the monthly Homeless statistics, and at Appendix 2 the monthly Homeless Nomination statistics for April (month 1).  In addition at Appendix 3 are the B&B statistics, showing the figures being monitored by the Government B&B Unit

Members will note from the data fall in the numbers of households in bed and breakfast has slowed and the position is generally in line with the with the agreed ODPM milestones.  The number if families remaining over 6 weeks has actually risen.  Officers are satisfied that this is a temporary change and that the trend will resort to its previous projection in future reports.

The number of leased properties continues to increase while the number of households

`homeless at home’ remains stable.

Members will be aware that office4rs have been working to develop a new Homelessness Strategy and this will be presented to the July Select Committee.
