PARKING ORDER

 

REPORT OF THE HEAD OF LEGAL AND DEMOCRATIC SERVICES

 

 

REASON FOR SELECT COMMITTEE CONSIDERATION

 

Members of the Select Committee established terms of reference for an enquiry into issues arising from the implementation of the Parking Order.

 

ACTION REQUIRED BY THE SELECT COMMITTEE

 

  1. To receive the analysis and advice set out in the letter appended to this report;

 

  1. To determine whether or not to make recommendations to the Portfolio Holder for Transport;

 

  1. To determine whether or not to add further enquiry to the workplan of the Select Committee.

 

 

BACKGROUND

 

Members of the Select Committee raised questions about the implementation of the parking order and agreed terms of reference for an enquiry. The outcome of this work is set out in Appendix 1.

 

RELEVANT PLANS, POLICIES, STRATEGIES AND PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

 

The Parking Order is a significant element in the delivery of the Local Transport Plan, in raising revenue and in traffic management.

 

CONSULTATION PROCESS

 

Those involved in addressing the terms of reference are identified in Appendix 1.

 

FINANCIAL, LEGAL, CRIME AND DISORDER IMPLICATIONS

 

The product of the enquiry does not carry revenue implications.

Appendix 1 is a letter setting out the process and outcome of the enquiry commissioned by the Select Committee.
