REPORT OF
THE STRATEGIC DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT |
To receive
and consider the LEA inspection report.
To note the report and determine the response of the
committee to its recommendations.
The LEA was inspected by OfSTED and the Audit Commission under the Section 38 framework for inspection in September 2003. The report was published on the 19 January 2004 and distributed within the local area as required.
The LEA is now required to produce an action plan responding to the report and its recommendations within seventy working days of the date of publication. The action plan will inform the strategic planning of the LEA and must be submitted to the Department for Education and Skills. The action plan will require the approval of the Executive Committee of the Council prior to submission.
The Inspection Action Plan will inform and impact upon all of the LEA’s education plans, policies and strategies. Principally, it will contribute to the review of the Education Development Plan (EDP) and the development of the Single Education Plan which will replace the EDP. Additionally, it will contribute to the Strategic objectives of the Corporate Plan and the Directorate’s service planning.
All key
stakeholders were consulted as part of the inspection process.
The response to the inspection report will be met within base budget and the legal requirements of the Section 38 inspection framework.
