REASON FOR SELECT
COMMITTEE CONSIDERATION
To update the Select
Committee on the work of the SEN Task Group.

ACTION REQUIRED BY THE SELECT COMMITTEE To note the present position. |
The Task Group has concentrated its investigations into the
statementing process. To gain a better understanding of how the Council
complies with the requirements of the Code of Practice and the Task Group has
involved relevant officers of this Authority and the partner agencies. Evidence
has therefore been obtained from the Principal Education Officer SEN, Education
Officer (SEN and Admin), SEN Casework Officer, Head of Legal and Democratic
Services, Paediatric Physiotherapy Team
Leader and Occupational Therapy Team Leader. It is intended to discuss the
statementing process with the Speech and Language Therapists.
This will then enable the Task Group to submit its conclusions on this
area before looking at issues surrounding funding.
