Title :              APPOINTMENT TO AN OUTSIDE BODY

REPORT OF THE STRATEGIC DIRECTOR, CORPORATE AND ENVIRONMENT SERVICES

SUMMARY/PURPOSE

To consider the appointment to Milne Memorial Sports Ground Company Ltd.

BACKGROUND

The Executive, at its meeting on 28 September 2000, reviewed the process involved in the appointment of Council representatives to outside bodies. It was decided that vacancies to the majority of outside bodies should be should be filled in accordance with the wishes of the relevant Select Committee and then submitted to the Executive for decision.

Details of the vacancy have been circulated to all Members of the Council without success. It therefore falls to this committee to nominate an appropriate Council representative. This representative can be either a Councillor or Council Officer. Meetings take place at IOW. Community Club, Park Road, Cowes approximately every two months. The representative appointed should have an interest in Sport & Community Service, have business experience and be knowledgeable of sources of Government and local funding.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS

Travelling and subsistence allowances can be paid in respect of attendance at meetings of all outside bodies

RECOMMENDATIONS

That an appropriate appointment be recommended to the Executive for approval.
