Title : BEST VALUE REVIEW PROGRAMME
REPORT OF THE HEAD OF SELECT COMMITTEE AND BEST VALUE SUPPORT
SUMMARY/PURPOSE
To discuss the proposed Best Value Review Programme for 2002/03.
BACKGROUND
The following review topics have arisen from a range of sources including Select Committee workshops, Community Strategy consultation and the Performance Indicators traffic lights.
It is anticipated that the improvement plan arising from the CPA process will include a programme of reviews, and the CPA itself may suggest other areas for review.
The current aim is to produce a prioritised list of reviews, rather than a set programme of reviews for individual years, for approval by the Executive.
The areas involved are :-
(a) Procurement
(b) Planning
(c) Drug-related crime
(d) Transport
(e) Education Inclusion
(f) Homelessness
(g) Fire Service Training
It is the intention to have a flexible programme to enable specifically focussed mini reviews to be undertaken. The format of these would follow the proposed structure set out in the attached appendix.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The Liaison Committee’s views on priorities are sought.
