DRAFT PROTOCOL FOR JOINT MEETINGS OF SELECT COMMITTEES

 

 

Where the Chairmen of two Select Committees consider it appropriate to have a joint meeting of their respective Select Committees then the same procedure rules will apply to such a meeting as for a normal meeting of any Select Committee except with regard to the following :-

 

1.      Chairmanship

 

The meeting shall be chaired by the one of the Chairman of the Select Committees deemed most appropriate by the majority of members attending the joint meeting.

 

2.      Quorum

 

There must be a quorum for each of the Select Committees.

 

3.      Minutes

 

The minutes shall either be confirmed by the next meeting of the joint Select Committee if a date has been set or, if no date is set, by the Chairman of the joint meeting and a copy sent to all members of the two Select Committees for information.

 

4.      Voting

 

Each member shall be entitled to a single vote and if a member should be on both Select Committees then a deputy should be appointed by them to take their voting place on one of the Select Committees.
