Title :               QUARTERLY FINANCIAL AND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT REPORT

 

REPORT OF THE PROGRAMME LEAD FOR COMPLIANCE

 

 

 



PURPOSE

 

1.                  This report introduces the report concerning financial and performance for the quarter ended 30 September considered by the Cabinet at its meeting on 5 December.

 

BACKGROUND

 

2.                  The Committee will be aware that its terms of reference includes:

 

“Monitoring the overall performance of the Council by receiving regular performance reports.”

 

3.                  The attached report, considered by the Cabinet on 5 December, represents the first opportunity of this Committee to fulfil that role.

 

4.                  The Cabinet report makes reference to the role this Committee is expected to play as:

 

“The Audit and Performance Committee who plays a key role in this process.  It will be asked to review the Cabinet report, focussing on any particular areas of concern or success in order to make recommendations to Cabinet as to how performance can be improved.  This will ensure that problems are being effectively resolved and good practice shared across the Council.”

 

5.                  The Committee will receive a verbal report of the outcome of the Cabinet meeting.

 

RECOMMENDATIONS

6.                                          6.       The Committee is therefore invited to:

 

(a)               Consider the Cabinet report and in particular the results of the key indicators for Quarter 2 (30 September 2006) shown at Annexe 2 of the report.

 

(b)               Highlight any of the indicators which show exceptional (good and poor) performance.

 

(c)               Consider and make recommendations to the Cabinet about the format and process used to manage performance.
